▍Material Origin · Plateau Sacred Bone
Main Material: Selected natural aged yak femurs from Tibetan areas above 4,000 meters above sea level, extracted from the thickest part of the bone marrow cavity. They sink slightly in water, and when tapped, they make a sound like a pottery chime, highlighting the unique toughness of plateau bone.
Craftsmanship: Utilizing the ancient Tibetan "bone etching" technique, the pieces undergo three low-temperature smoke treatments to solidify the color. The texture is as if carved into the bone. A translucent "ice flower" patina reveals the naturally formed "ice flower" color within the bone marrow cavity, reminiscent of the "full blood" characteristic of camel bone.
▍Form Research · Tibetan Code
• Barrel Bead Specifications: 14mm x 10mm, a traditional barrel bead with rounded chamfers that fit the curve of the wrist.
• Hole Characteristics: Hand-drilled using the ancient method, both sides are drilled. A translucent "oil-like halo" formed by centuries of twisting reveals a distinct contrast to the harsh, mechanically drilled holes.
▍Pattern of Time · Imprint of Humanity
• Natural Aging: The surface of the bone shows a weathered layer with an "orange peel" texture, and some areas may show "sweat stains" (yellowish-brown, translucent) from long-term wear by herders. The texture is as smooth as jade, but without the stickiness of artificial wax.
• Signs of Use: Some beads retain "file marks" left by Tibetan hand-shaping, as well as "micro-dents" from the impact of ritual implements during prayer. These marks are considered a manifestation of "spiritual merit."
• Odor Identification: When newly unpacked, it has a light aroma of ghee and herbs (derived from traditional Tibetan care practices), which gradually transforms into a rich "bone fragrance" with wear.
▍Cultural Empowerment · Spiritual Protection
• Tibetan Symbolism: In Tibetan culture, the yak is the mount of the "Snow Mountain God." Its bones are considered sacred objects that "ward off evil spirits and increase blessings." They are suitable for chanting mantras, circumambulating the mountain, or simply worn daily to enhance vitality. • Energy Properties: Blessed by the Living Buddha of Longwu Monastery, the stability of the bone can help calm the mind. The barrel-shaped bead corresponds to the navel chakra, one of the seven chakras of the central channel, helping to balance physical and mental energy.
• Collectible Value: Yak hunting is now prohibited in modern Tibetan areas. The stringing rate of this type of natural old bone is less than 5%, and the ancient craftsmanship is on the verge of extinction, resulting in a declining market supply.
